MapleStory DS (Korean: 메이플스토리 DS) is a Nintendo DS adaptation of the original MMORPG game for Windows called MapleStory. It is currently under development by Nexon in cooperation with Nintendo.
The game was announced at E3 2006. On January 9, 2007, Nexon and the newly established Nintendo of Korea showcased MapleStory DS for the first time, releasing a trailer for the game. The game was first projected to be released in September 2007. The Korean release was later announced to be set for sometime in 2009 and later January 2010. However, the game was not released in January 2010. In late February 2010 Nexon announced that the game will be released on April 15, 2010 in South Korea.
It has been confirmed that MapleStory DS will not be an MMORPG. In an interview with the manager of international business development at Nexon Stephen Lee, Lee explained that the upcoming game is simply a single player game with limited multiplayer features. In addition, it has been announced that MapleStory DS will not support WiFi.
